It is becoming a recurring theme when I write about Dutch genever, but the Wenneker Oude Proever I'm tasting today is simply a brand, and no longer a distillery.
I previously tried the Zuidam 3 Years Old Zeer Oude Genever, in which I found the oak played a dominant role. Too dominant, probably. So if the 3-year-old is already infused with oak, what of the 5-year-old?
Zuidam Rogge Genever is a complex product, and in The Netherlands you can buy this for the incredible ridiculous price of 20 euro. Genever is seriously undervalued.
