My main takeaway is that this 4th batch of The Gauldrons is not as sweet as the first batch, and has more of that classic Campbeltown DNA. An improvement, if you will!
Light in colour but with plenty of body and depth, the Timorous Beastie Small Batch performs well as a sipping whisky, but I suspect as a highball too.
The prevailing notion is that grain whisky needs to be old to be good. But might that also be because most grain whisky probably doesn't mature in the best casks? This Strathclyde received a finish in a very active sherry cask, making it a highly enjoyable whisky.
