Lots has changed at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society since a private consortium took over. Among the changes was the introduction of the first ever blended malt a few years ago: Exotic Cargo.
Apologies for the very, very late birthday congratulations. The Big Peat 10 Years Old, bottled for the tenth anniversary of the Big Peat brand, was released in April. A belated happy birthday is in order!
My main takeaway is that this 4th batch of The Gauldrons is not as sweet as the first batch, and has more of that classic Campbeltown DNA. An improvement, if you will!
A tad heavier than the most recent iteration of the Vega, if I remember correctly, in which I found some more subtleties. Still, a cracking whisky, and one that (if you were able to get one at original retail price) provides a whole lot of bang for your buck.

The Compass Box Flaming Heart is a classic in its own right, and after the first successful release in 2006, the blending company released its 6th limited edition a little while ago.
