The angels wanted nothing to do with this Tormore 1988 28 Years Old from Single Malts of Scotland, which is bottled at 63,3 percent abv. An incredible strength for a whisky at such an advanced age.
I've tasted Glen Albyn 1974 once before, during a sailing trip off the west coast of Scotland. Imagine my surprise when I encountered that exact same bottle at last year's Whiskybase Gathering. I brought home a sample, and here is the result.
This old Macduff shows a beautiful restrained sherry influence, one you can only really find in long-matured liquid. The nose is fruity, while the palate is a bit more muscular. Love it!
