It's not often Diageo releases limited editions outside of their annual Special Releases, but back in 2008 they decided to release this 16yo Glen Elgin at cask strength.
This 16yo is the only official Longmorn that is readily available. Is this a good alternative for some of the excellent independent Longmorns out there?
Time to take a closer look at a sherry cask matured Bunnahabhain 2001 16 Years Old from Claxton's. It was bottled exclusively for The Old Pipe, probably my favourite whisky shop in The Netherlands.
No chocolate malt was used for the Fettercairn 16 Years 2nd Release, instead its 'unique' selling point is the use of Oloroso and Palo Cortado Sherry butts.
