Diageo Special Releases 2016 Linkwood Mannochmore Cambus Glenkinchie

More Special Releases 2016: Linkwood, Glenkinchie & Mannochmore

A couple of weeks ago the first whiskies of the Diageo Special Releases 2016 were unveiled after they showed up American Alcohol & Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau database. Among them the new Port Ellen, Brora and Lagavulin. Now four more of the Diageo Special Releases have turned up TTB Database, including a old Linkwood and a very interesting Mannochmore.

Sku from Sku’s Recent Eats has been publishing interesting new releases from the TTB Database for years. He always posts a disclaimer, which I’ll reiterate here. It is important to keep in mind that the fact that a label appears on the TTB database does not necessarily mean it will be produced. In addition, some details on the label, such as proof, can change in the final product.

So without further ado, here are the rest of Diageo’s Special Releases for 2016:

I probably won’t be willing to pay what they’re going to be asking, but nonetheless I’m very curious about the Mannochmore. Quite a few years back. Diageo released this awesome Mannochmore 18yo as a special release. If this new one is comparable, than we’re in for a treat.

Something else that I find interesting that there doesn’t seem to be a third straight release of the Clynelish Select Reserve. It served as Diageo’s experiment to see if consumers were ready to pay top dollar (600 euro or more) for a NAS whisky. Does its absence for the 2016 line up of the Special Releases mean the experiment has failed?

Of course I’m only speculating, because it might as well pop up in the TTB Database in the next couple of weeks. On the other hand we’re already at a total of nine expressions for the Diageo Special Releases 2016, so that probably means there won’t be many (if any) other releases.
