Glendronach 1995/2015 for The Whisky Exchange
You almost can’t go wrong with a single cask Glendronach right? One is better than the other, but almost all of ’em are good. The people over at The Whisky Exchange have picked a cask to be exclusively bottled for them. It’s from 1995 actually, a vintage we’re seeing more and more, now that the well with 1993’s and 1994’s seems to be drying up.
Glendronach 1995/2015 (55,4%, OB for The Whisky Exchange, C#4028)
Nose:A touch of sulphur to start. Be sure to give it some time to develop, but then you’ll get rewarded. Caramel glazed, cinnamon apple. Raisins, or more like sultana’s actually. Brown sugar. Some water brings out soy sauce, makes it more savory.
Taste: Thick and juicy, very rich. Yeah, it tastes better than it smells actually. A rum-like sweetness, with raisins and plums, but also spicy black pepper and nutmeg. Some red wine vinegar.
Finish: Vinegar, juicy cherries. Thick and rich. Long…
The longer I had this in the glass, the more I liked it. Some water helps too. A very good single cask from Glendronach, but we’re used to that by now 🙂
