GlenAllachie has announced the launch of the Second Batch of their GlenAllachie 21 Years. The first batch was released at the end of 2020 to much acclaim. Bottled at cask strength, the new GlenAllachie 21 Years Batch 2 promises a similar dark, sherried flavour experience.
The latest installment of the GlenAllachie 21 Years Batch 2 marries together five Pedro Ximénez puncheons and hogsheads dating back to 1997, 1998 and 1999. Each of the casks were picked by Master Distillery Billy Walker, for a total of 1,600 bottles worldwide. The whisky has been bottled at a cask strength of 51.5% abv.
Master Distiller Billy Walker shared his thoughts about the about new GlenAllachie 21 Years Batch 2 in a prepared statement: “Having been met with exceptional appetite for our first batch of the GlenAllachie 21-year-old, I was incredibly excited to get back to work creating an equally special release which would be met with the same levels of interest and excitement.
“We are lucky enough to have access to truly outstanding Spanish Sherry wood, and these Pedro Ximénez puncheons and hogsheads have been genuine standouts. The culmination of the five casks I have selected here is an intense and intriguing Single Malt full of rich mocha, tangy orange and ginger biscuits.”

MacNair’s Lum Reek 10 Years Cask Strength
GlenAllachie Distillers today also announced a new addition to their MacNair’s Boutique House of Spirits range. The new MacNair’s Lum Reek 10 Years Cask Strength will be added to a range that already includes the Small Batch, 12-year-old and 21-year-old. The first batch of the Lum Reek 10 Years Cask Strength is bottled at 55.4% abv and made from malt whiskies from Speyside and Islay.
The aged whiskies were sourced by Walker before being blended together with casks from the vast stocks of GlenAllachie. The spirit was then re-racked into specially selected Spanish Sherry casks, wine barriques and virgin oak casks for secondary maturation.
“Without a doubt, the most fulfilling element of my role is blending and developing new recipes which enhance the taste experience of individual whiskies. MacNair’s Lum Reek allows me to think outside of the box and blend such a wide variety of Single Malts from across Scotland to achieve the profile I am looking for.
“Whilst I delight in blending GlenAllachie expressions, introducing other Single Malts into the mix is incredibly interesting and creates something really magical. Having won incredible awards for The GlenAllachie 10-year-old Cask Strength batch releases, including World’s Best Single Malt 2021, I was keen to explore this concept as a Blended Malt, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome.”
MacNair’s Lum Reek 10 Years Cask Strength Batch 1 will be available from specialist retailers globally at a retail price of £55.99 (or the local equivalent).
