GlenAllachie just announced the launch of Batch 7 of their 10-year-old Cask Strength series. `This range has become incredibly popular and highly sought-after ever since one of the previous batches won World’s Best Single Malt in 2021. The launch of the GlenAllachie 10 Years Cask Strength Batch 7 comes just weeks after the distillery announced their latest 21-year-old.
The GlenAllachie 10 Years Cask Strength Batch 7 matured in Pedro Xim´énez and Oloroso sherry puncheons, Rioja barriques and virgin oak casks. The red wine casks have only been a part of the cask recipe since Batch 5. Previous batches, including the award-winning Batch 4, were released without any wine influence.
Bottled at 56.8 percent abv, the GlenAllachie 10 Years Cask Strength Batch 7 was created by master blender Billy Walker, who has many devotees among the whisky community. His sherry-forward style has garnered lots of fans since his days as top honcho at GlenDronach.
“Every batch we create of our 10-year-old Cask Strength represents the direction in which we are taking The GlenAllachie”, says Walker in a prepared statement. “From the outset, our defined objective has been to achieve a bold and flavourful yet balanced spirit, predominantly matured in Sherry wood, but with interesting twists introduced by unusual cask types.
“This latest batch is a complex and enjoyable drinking experience which brings together spirit from some truly exceptional Sherry, Wine and virgin oak casks. I must say, this one is pretty special.”
