It’s a blend, so I have very little info on today’s whisky, except for the most relevant information. This Fine Blended Whisky from Whisky-Fässle is from 1980 and is 35 Years Old. Probably blended at birth and then filled into a sherry butt.
Fine Blended Whisky 1980 35 Years Old (46,7%, Whisky-Fässle)
Nose: A hint of glue and pine sap, but also juicy red fruit. Cherry, strawberry. There’s freshly squeezed orange juice too. A whiff of damp wood and mocha. Very elegant and well-integrated.
Taste: Caramel, cappuccino, fudge and milk chocolate. Quite creamy by the way, with bitter oranges. Also some light spices, bitter tea and cigar tobacco.
Finish: Long with a good chunk of coffee. Finally a whisper of wheatgrass.
Rating: 88
Lovely, old and old-style sherry whisky. If you don’t enjoy some bitter notes, than maybe stay away, otherwise this is a lovely whisky.
