While plenty of people jump on a dark, obviously sherry matured Clynelish, I'm not one of them. Nevertheless, I'm always willing to try one every now and then.
It's been over four years ago that I wrote one of my favourite blog posts. Its central subject was the Clynelish Select Reserve, and now I finally had the chance to taste it.
I never realised how rare Clynelish from 1974 is, until I checked Whiskybase. Turns out there have only ever been eight different bottlings from this vintage.
Diageo might not really promote it as a brand, but independent bottlings from Clynelish are hugely popular. This Clynelish 1995 20 Years Old from Signatory Vintage is a good example.
