This obviously isn't the exact same as the original 21yo of The Glenlivet. But I know which one I would pick given the choice. Gordon & MacPhail have done a wonderful job here.
For whatever reason, Balblair never really managed to get met interested, so it wasn't till a couple of months ago that I tasted my first. And it was at the best place you can taste any whisky: at their respective distillery.
A fine whisky from Isle of Jura, which is good value for money. I got my hand on a sample of their 1993 Boutique Barrels vintage that has a sherry finish. The final eight years it matured on Oloroso Pasada sherry butts.
Glen Scotia is one of the few remaining Campbeltown distilleries. It's also one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland and has never been much of a commercial succes.
Glenlossie, I like the sound of that name. But do I also like the way this whisky tastes? The fact that it's from Dutch bottler Van Wees is at least a good first sign.
Van Wees have now bottled seven different Longmorn-casks in little over a year, and I have tasted two of them. They all are fantastic 'bang for your buck'-whiskies.
